Frequently asked questions

How do I convert an Excel spreadsheet (.xlsx/.xls) to PDF?

Click the drop zone or drag your .xlsx, .xls, or .csv file onto the page. The tool parses the spreadsheet locally and shows each sheet as a tab with a live table preview. Choose your layout settings and click 'Download PDF' to export.

Can I preview each page individually before exporting the PDF?

Yes. Each sheet is rendered as a fully styled HTML table preview immediately after upload. You can click between sheet tabs to review each one. The preview shows exactly how the data will appear in the exported PDF.

How do I switch the layout between Landscape and Portrait orientation?

Use the 'Orientation' dropdown in the Layout panel. Landscape is recommended for wide spreadsheets as it fits more columns across the page. Portrait suits narrow, row-heavy data like lists or reports.

Can I choose specific page sizes like A4 or US Letter?

Yes. The 'Paper Size' dropdown lets you select A4 (210×297mm) for international documents or Letter (8.5×11 in) for US-standard printing before exporting the PDF.

How can I fit an entire spreadsheet onto a single PDF page?

Enable the 'Fit to page width' toggle in the Layout panel. This scales the table so all columns fit within the paper width. For very wide sheets, switching to Landscape orientation alongside this option gives the best result.

Can I choose whether to display or hide Excel table gridlines?

The current version always renders table borders for clarity. All cells are separated by visible borders in the PDF output to ensure the data is easy to read.

Does the converter preserve repeat header rows on every page?

The first row of each sheet is treated as the header and is styled distinctly with a light background and bold text. In the PDF, header repetition across pages depends on how the PDF engine handles page breaks.

Can I convert multi-sheet workbooks into a single combined PDF?

Yes. When a workbook has multiple sheets, each sheet appears as a tab. Checkboxes let you select which sheets to include. All selected sheets are combined into a single PDF, with each sheet starting on a new page.

Does the tool support custom page margin adjustments?

Default margins of 10mm are applied on all sides for a clean, space-efficient layout. Custom margin fields are not exposed in the current UI, but the defaults work well for most spreadsheet exports.

Are financial formulas and cell calculations evaluated before conversion?

Yes. The tool uses SheetJS to parse the spreadsheet, which resolves formula results so that computed values — like SUM, AVERAGE, IF, and VLOOKUP — display as their final calculated numbers rather than raw formula strings.

Is my uploaded spreadsheet stored on an external cloud server?

No. Your spreadsheet is parsed entirely within your browser using WebAssembly-powered SheetJS. No file data is transmitted to any server. The file exists only in your browser's memory during the session.

Is this online Excel to PDF converter completely free?

Yes. There are no charges, no subscription plans, no daily limits, and no account registration required. The tool is entirely free to use for any number of files.

Can I convert large Excel files with thousands of rows?

Yes, there is no hard file size limit. However, very large spreadsheets with tens of thousands of rows may take several seconds to parse and render. The browser may slow down during processing of extremely large files.

Does the converter maintain cell formatting, colors, and borders?

Basic formatting is preserved where possible. All cells are separated by borders and header rows are highlighted. However, complex formatting like custom cell background colors, merged cells, conditional formatting, and data bars are not currently supported.

Can I use this Excel to PDF tool on an iPhone or Android device?

Yes. The tool is fully responsive and works on modern mobile browsers including Chrome on Android and Safari on iOS. You can upload a spreadsheet from your device's file storage and download the resulting PDF directly.

How long does it take to render each page preview?

Preview rendering is nearly instant for typical spreadsheets. After uploading, the table preview appears within 1 to 2 seconds. Very large files with thousands of rows may take a few more seconds to fully render.

Does the final generated PDF include any watermarks?

No. The exported PDF is completely free of watermarks, logos, or any promotional branding. You receive a clean, professional PDF of your spreadsheet data.

Do I need Microsoft Office or Excel installed on my machine?

No. The tool reads .xlsx, .xls, and .csv files directly using SheetJS — a JavaScript library built into the page. Microsoft Office, Excel, or any other desktop software is not required.

Can I select specific print areas or sheet ranges to export?

You can select which sheets to include using the sheet checkboxes. Exporting specific row or column ranges within a sheet is not currently supported — the full data of each selected sheet is exported.

Will charts and data graphs embedded in the sheet render cleanly?

No. Charts, graphs, and images embedded in Excel files are not supported and will not appear in the exported PDF. Only tabular cell data is exported. A warning message is displayed at the top of the tool to inform you of this limitation.
